Prescription Drugs

Allegion’s prescription drug coverage is provided through Express Scripts. You automatically get prescription drug coverage when you enroll in an Allegion medical plan.

The Express Scripts Smart-90 Program requires that all Maintenance Medications appearing on the Express Scripts Smart90 List* must be filled by the Express Scripts mail order service or a CVS or Walgreens retail pharmacy. As a new hire, you are eligible for three 30-day fills at any in-network pharmacy. If your preventive prescriptions are not transitioned after these fills, you will pay 100% of the medication cost. (Princeton, IL, employees are excluded from the Smart-90 program.)

Review the chart below for details on your Express Scripts coverage. Your benefits vary based on your medical plan enrollment. If you are not sure which medical plan you are enrolled in, log into Workday and click on “Benefits/View Benefit Elections” to find out.

Your next steps and resources are:

  • Review the 2025 Express Scripts Smart90 Drug List or contact Express Scripts to confirm your medications are on the list and you are not filling them at one of the previously listed pharmacies. Express Scripts’ number is 1-800-818-6743.
  • How do you transition to Express Scripts mail-order service? Log in to your Express Scripts account.  You will see all your current prescriptions no matter where they were last filled.  To change your prescription to Express Scripts mail order, click on the box “Express Scripts Pharmacy for Delivery” next to each prescription you need to transition.  Note that you ARE also required to enter a payment method in your Express Scripts profile.  Payment is expected before the medication will ship. Call Express Scripts if you have questions or difficulty with this process at 1-800-818-6743.
  • How to transition to a CVS or Walgreens retail pharmacy? To find a local CVS or Walgreens retail pharmacy location, log in to your Express Scripts account.  Click “Prescriptions” in the light blue drop-down menu at the top of the page.  Then, click “Find a Pharmacy”.  You can search by city/state or zip code.  Once you know the pharmacy you want to transition your maintenance medication prescriptions to, request that your medical provider send a new prescription to this pharmacy.

Retail vs. Mail Order

It’s important to understand the difference between retail and mail order prescriptions so you can get the care that makes the most sense for you. With retail, you must visit a retail pharmacy to get your prescription and show your prescription ID card. With mail order, your prescription is delivered right to your door.

Ask for Generics

Generic and brand-name drugs have the same active ingredients and work the same way. The main difference is the cost to you. Brand-name drugs are more expensive due to development and patent protections, while generics are typically more affordable.

Home Delivery

Enjoy the convenience and savings of home delivery for medications you take on a regular basis through our mail-order prescription program. The larger 90-day supply is mailed directly to your home — saving you time and money.
