Family Medical Leave
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) gives eligible employees up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected time off (in a rolling 12-month period) for a variety of reasons, including:
- For your own serious health condition that makes you unable to work or perform one or more of the essential functions of your position
- To bond with a new child (including an adopted child or foster child)
- To care for a child, spouse, domestic partner or parent with a serious health condition
- For qualifying reasons coming from a spouse, son, daughter or parent being on active duty in the Armed Forces
- To care for a spouse, child, parent or next of kin who is in the Armed Forces and requires medical treatment from injuries that happened while in the line of duty
You should provide 30 days advance notice to take FMLA leave, if possible.

Eligibility
You may be eligible for FMLA if you have at least 12 months of employment with Allegion and have worked at least 1,250 hours in the last 12 months. This may be available on a continuous, intermittent or as a reduced schedule leave.
FMLA and Paid Leave
Employees must use any available paid time while taking unpaid FMLA Leave, unless otherwise prohibited by local/state law. The paid time will run concurrently with the FMLA leave entitlement. Leaves taken in connection with short-term disability or worker’s compensation shall run concurrently with any FMLA leave entitlement.
Intermittent FMLA Leave
Intermittent leave is for those situations where flexibility is needed to balance work and your need to be away from work periodically for a serious health condition or to care for an immediate family member who has a serious health condition. Intermittent leave is also available to care for a family member who is an injured service member.
