Disability
When you can’t work because you’re sick or injured — and it’s going to be more than a few days before you can get back to work — disability benefits help you financially, so you can focus on getting better.
Allegion’s disability coverage is provided through Aflac.
Use the Aflac Disability calculator or watch the video to help understand your disability coverage.
Short Term Disability (STD)
Allegion provides Short-Term Disability (STD) insurance at no cost to you at either 100% or 70% of your base salary.
Salaried Employees
- First 12 weeks: The plan replaces 100% of your base salary
- The next 14 weeks: The plan replaces 70% of your base salary
All Other Non-Union Hourly Employees
- Up to 26 weeks: The plan replaces 70% of your base pay after seven consecutive days of absence
Long Term Disability (LTD)
Long-Term Disability (LTD) insurance helps you protect a portion of your income if you are unable to work after 180 days of absence.
- LTD insurance replaces 40% of your Health and Welfare Benefits Base Pay (HWBBP).
- You can purchase an additional 20% in buy-up LTD coverage with no Evidence of Insurability (EOI). This means if you purchase the buy-up, your LTD insurance will replace 60% of your Health and Welfare Benefits Base Pay (HWBBP).
- EOI will be required if you waive additional coverage as a new hire and choose to enroll at a later date.
For details on your LTD insurance, see the Aflac Long-Term Disability Insurance Flyer.

What Is Health and Welfare Benefits Base Pay?
Allegion uses HWBBP to calculate your benefit coverage. For new hires, this definition is based upon your date of hire and will be updated each August 31. For all basic coverages (Life, AD&D and LTD), your benefit is calculated using your base salary, annualized shift differential and any sales incentives you may be eligible to receive. If you choose to enroll in Supplemental Life, AD&D or LTD, your benefit calculation also includes target Annual Incentive Plan rewards.
