Parental Leave Policies
Procedure
- To apply for parental leave, you must contact Aflac by phone or submit your request online.
- Requests must be submitted to Aflac at least 30 days prior to their expected leave start date, unless the need for leave is unforeseen. In that case, notice must be received the day the employee is aware of their need for leave, or the next business day.
- You must provide notification to your supervisor and/or HRBP in a timely manner.
Enroll Within 31 Days
If your leave is due to maternity/parental leave, it is important to enroll your newborn baby as a dependent for health care insurance within 31 days of the baby’s birth. If you fail to add the baby to your benefits within 31 days of the birth, it may result in a delay or denial of benefit coverage.
Parental Leave Denials
- In the unlikely event that a parental leave is denied, Aflac will send a denial notice to the employee, Benefits, your HRBP, and the employee’s supervisor.
- Parental Leave denials may impact or delay paid benefits.
